(Washington D.C.) The surveillance programs at the National Security Agency will be the focus Wednesday of a hearing before the Senate Judiciary Committee to determine how best to strike a balance between privacy rights and National Security.
Iowa Senator Chuck Grassley says part of the answer is simple.” There has been so much secrecy about this program over the last ten-years,” explained Grassley. “That just the secrecy in and of itself has raised a lot of questions that wouldn’t be raised if there was more declassification.”
Grassley says we need to let the public know everything that can be known about the programs to eliminate the mystery which would then lessen the criticism.
