SHELBY COUNTY SHERIFFS OFFICE INVESTIGATING NUMEROUS INCIDENTS
(HARLAN) The Shelby County Sheriff’s Office is searching for a suspect allegedly involved in a break-in Monday night.
At around 5:30 p.m., Shelby County Communications received a 911 call from a male at a residence in the 1500 block of 800th Street stating that he had been chased and rammed by another vehicle in an act of road rage and had just forced his way into a residence to call for help. Deputies were sent to the residence and discovered the door had been forced open and the caller was no longer present.
A second call was received at the Communication Center from a resident in the 1300 block of County Road F-58. The resident stated a white male came to the door asking to park his vehicle near his outbuildings. The resident refused and told the suspect to park near the roadway. When deputies arrived at this location the suspect had left the area. Deputies then searched the area near Corley and found a Ford Mustang matching the description of the vehicle being driven by the suspect. Upon checking on the vehicle, which was unoccupied, deputies learned the vehicle was stolen from Omaha.
A Code Red alert was initiated in the area surrounding Corley asking residents to call if a stranger came to their door and to lock all vehicles in the general area. Law enforcement officers searched the area for several hours for the suspect and were unable to locate anyone.
