(Atlantic) - Cass County 4-H and FFA members have an opportunity to try out their skills for judging livestock during the Livestock Judging Contest scheduled for Friday, July 26.
Registration will begin at 2:30 pm at the FFA Food Stand and the contest will start at 3 pm at the Cass County Fairgrounds outdoor show ring in Atlantic. Brad Pellett, from Atlantic, is serving as superintendent. Helping him is Coleen Babe and Jon McDermott, as well as Cass County FFA Advisors Bruce Johnk, Gary Miller, and Kevin Blair.
Each 4-H club or FFA chapter may enter any number of teams to compete. Each team must consist of four members with one designated as the captain. Any number of individuals may also compete for an individual placing. All team members are automatically entered as individuals.
Three contests, one for Cass County 4-H, one for FFA, and one for out-of-county 4-Hers, will be held simultaneously, using the same rules and livestock. A top team and top individual will be selected in each contest.
Livestock to be judged includes breeding and market beef, breeding and market sheep, and breeding and market swine, as well as question classes.
