(Atlantic) Typically gasoline is the biggest seller at Casey's General Store, but none is available at the present time at the Casey's central store at 7th and Poplar in Atlantic.
Brian Johnson is the Vice President of Finance with Casey's. He says the construction work, that has a majority of the store front and parking area all torn up, is a standard petroleum update that they commonly do on newly aquired stores.
"In this case we are putting in our upgraded pumps along with two 20,000 gallon underground storage tanks. It's really to kind of bring the equipment up to our standards and allow the equipment to better communicate with our internal accounting and point of sale systems."
They hope to have things back in regular order as soon as they can.
"It's usually a couple of weeks. I believe our expected completion date is sometime in mid-August. Hopefully the weather cooperates and hopefully they get out of everybody's way. Atlantic is a good community for us and we like those stores open and running as quickly as we can."
He says the main advantage of the larger tanks underground comes from the logistics of transporting fuel with their line of trucks. They prefer to be able to empty an entire fuel truck at one location as opposed to multiple stops.
