(Atlantic) The Atlantic Community Protection Committee is recommending the city clean out the “truck parking lot” on State Street. The City owns the property, and the Protection Committee that met Tuesday night, is recommending they clean it up and basically start over.
“The first thing we have to do is clean it up and I am talking about emptying it out,” exclaimed Steve Livengood Community Protection Committee Chair.
Livengood says the second thing is maintain it.
“That means the pot holes, the ruts, trees and everything else we are going to have to maintain,” said Livengood.
He says third thing is to build parking stalls for each individual trucker and grant permits for around $300.00 per year.
The fourth suggestion is to add lights and electrical plug-ins at each stall. The goal is to give each trucker a reserved stall to use anytime of the day or night.
The committee will take their recommendation to the city council for a vote on the issue.
