(Atlantic) The end is in sight on the estimated $7.2 million dollar Atlantic Middle School re-modeling project. The end will be welcomed with open arms when it does arrive sometime in the next couple of weeks.Construction work is nearing completion at the Middle School. Superintendent Dr. Michael Amstein says the goal is to have things wrapped up by the time school starts on August 14th.
“We are extremely ecstatic about the work getting finished. You try to do your best and try to have school when they are doing different parts of the building, but Inevitably I think it impacts instruction and to be able to have all of the work done and be able to be free of distractions based on any type of renovation or construction I think will be a welcome addition.”
An open house will be held in late August or early September to show off the building to the public.
“We are very interested in the community coming and taking a look and see what has been done. So many folks that I know here that are in town went to school here. Now to come back and see what they changes are and what the changes entail, I think they will be very impressed.”
The project began in the fall of 2011 and has taken place through two school years. Dr. Amstein is expecting things to be finished up before students arrive this year.
