HARLAN POLICE REPORT
(HARLAN) A Kirkman man was arrested on an active Shelby County warrant following a traffic stop on Friday, March 18th.
The Harlan Police Department says 49-year-old Charles Harpenau’s warrant was for tampering with records and was issued when he attempted to fill a prescription at the Hy Vee Pharmacy and pharmacy staff observed that the prescription had been altered.
Harpenau was taken to the Shelby County Jail on the warrant and was also cited for failure to wear a seatbelt.
In other activity, The Harlan Police Department arrested 40-year-old Troy Smith of Harlan following a traffic stop on charges of operating while intoxicated and careless driving. He was transported to the Shelby County Jail.
A burglary was reported in the 500 block of north Harlan Tuesday where several items were taken from a garage. Police are following up on leads and the case remains under investigation.
