(Council Bluffs) - A Council Bluffs magistrate has been issued a public reprimand by the Iowa Supreme Court.
Judicial Magistrate Clarence B. Meldrum Jr. was issued the reprimand Friday night by the State’s high court because he wore his judicial robes in advertisements for his services as a private attorney. This act of advertising violated the Iowa Code of Judicial Conduct.
Meldrum said he never intended to insinuate that he could “pull any strings” for clients as a magistrate. According to Meldrum, he says he only wanted to show that he held a responsible public position. It has been distinguished by the Supreme Court, that beginning in 2009; Meldrum placed such advertisement in phone books.
