AN EMERGENCY EXERCISE HAS DRAWN CRITICISM FROM MINUTEMAN
(Treynor) A tempest has developed surrounding a local Homeland Security training exercise scheduled for a Western Iowa town on Saturday.
Local emergency officials in Pottawattamie County have and exercise scheduled for Saturday at Treynor High School. A number of social media sites have said the exercise is supposed to involve a fake shooting at the school by a teenager with ties to a white supremacist group. He is supposed to be taking out his frustrations with illegal immigrations by using violence. The Director of the exercise Doug Reed says there is no basis in reality for the scenario in the area and immigration was included as an issue so local agencies could qualify for federal funding.
However, Robert Ussery, of the Iowa minutemen says the drill makes people who want immigration law enforcement look like criminals.
