(Red Oak) State Senator Joni Ernst announced last week that she will join the field of five other candidates for the U.S. Senate. Today, Ernst told KSOM/KS95 news that her decision to run is based on three factors.
“First…is being a mother and grandmother and ensuring that future generations are having the same great opportunities that we have had,” stated Ernst. The second factor is her experience as a soldier. “And that has been a big part of my life. I am concerned about national security both at home and abroad. In recent years I have not like what I have scene in some incidents around the globe.”
Ernst says the third thing is she is a conservative. “I am a conservative and I believe the values that I have are representative of Iowa.”
Ernst says one thing that separates her from the five other Republican candidates is her lifetime of service to the public, whether it is through her civilian career, or as Montgomery County Auditor, her three years in the state senate where she had to work through some difficult issues, and her experience as a soldier serving the country in combat in the Middle East.
