(Atlantic) After over 23 years of business in downtown Atlantic, The Pretty Woman will be closing their doors.
Store owner LeAnn Pellett says she’s been considering the decision for the past year and a half.
“I've got active little grandchildren and I like to go to their things. My husband and I have been, the last few years, leaving for a couple of months in the winter time, and it's such a hastle to try and run things from a different state. I'm very fortunate that I have some employees that have been able to hold down the fort for me.”
Pellett says the time is right now to walk away. The business, which opened in June of 1980, began as a lingerie and sleepwear store and then expanded to sports wear and eventually included Finder’s Keeper’s furniture and home décor. Pellett says she’ll miss the customers and her employees.
"Oh, we have great customers! That is one thing I will definitely miss. I will especially miss working with the poeple, with Terri, Norma, and Sue. Pam was the first one and I really learned from her. We are all still good friends, we get together and have lunch, I hope to continue that because those are the best memories. And one of my favorite thing to do is go to market because 'who doesn't like to shop?' that's like putting a kid in a candy store."
Pellett would like to thank the customers for their business over the years and says there is no set date for closing. They’d like to get rid of as much as they can before winter.
