(Harlan) Thousands of Bicycle riders will be leaving Council Bluffs this Sunday July 21, and travel just over 54-miles to Harlan on Day one of RAGBRAI 2013.
Deb Linden, of Shelby County DevelopSource says they still need residents to house riders.
“We need as many people as we can find that will offer their yards for tent camping, their driveways, or a flat spot for RV’s,” stated Linden. “And if they have room in their house whether it be a couch, spare bed, recliner, or floor, we need anybody and everybody to find some of these places for these people.”
Linden says there are over 250-riders groups that are coming in but many individuals that need housing are older riders that have been on the trip since it started in the early 1970’s.
“We have had over 1,500 people apply for housing through the website. And as of now we have placed about 1,000 of them, maybe just a little over that,” said Linden.
Linden says those interested in donating their home or yard can call 712-755-3569. People can also get more information by logging onto the website at harlanragbrai.com.
Day one begins in Council Bluffs and goes through Weston, Underwood, Neola, Minden, Shelby, Tennant and on into Harlan. Linden says more information can be found on their website Harlanragbrai.com.
