STORMY WEATHER FORECAST FOR THIS AFTERNOON
(Atlantic) Forecasters are keeping their eye on the weather this afternoon and according to the National Weather Service, Southwest Iowa is a focal point.
Cass County Emergency Management Director Mike Kennon took part in a conference call with meteorologists with the National Weather Service this morning.
“Forecasters are calling for a high probability of hail and large hail,” stated Kennon. “There is also a chance for a tornado during the afternoon drive. We are keeping an eye on the 5:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m. time frame.”
Kennon says his office is going to monitor the situation. He is asking the public to do the same.
The combination of a massive low-pressure system rolling in along with cold front slamming into warm air over Iowa is almost a perfect recipe for severe storms.
