(Atlantic) The Atlantic Community School board gave their thumbs up to the 2013-2014 Technology Plan at Monday night’s meeting. The plan totals around $416,000 which includes internet service. The total amount for the hardware is around $215,000 and the total network costs are in the neighborhood of $132,000.00.
Roger Warne District technology Coordinator explained the 1-1 Preparation and Transition plan to the board with a goal for all students and educators to have a computer at school within the next three to four years.
“What I have seen from the schools that have already implemented this is that… students are excited to come to school,” stated Warne. “It changes the atmosphere, and I am not saying that is the main component, but we are providing those types of machines that gives us the advantage in the classroom for a wide range of things that they are going to be able to do in the classroom on a day-to-day basis.”
The 2013-2014 plan is just the first step in a five-year technology plan for the school.
