HARLAN CITY COUNCIL OFFERING HOUSING INCIDENT
(Harlan) The Harlan City Council this week passed an attractive purchase agreement concept for conveying 79-city owned units for $1,000 per lot due to local economic constraints. Harlan City Clerk Susan Lambert talks about the specifications of the project.
“They can stop in and pick up a purchase agreement, which is referred to as Exhibit A because it’s attached to the resolution that was adopted, complete the purchase agreement on the lot that they are interested in, bring it in and the council will review it and take action on it, and the stipulation is that they have to start construction within six months,” said Lambert.
Lambert says whether a buyer fills out the purchase agreement in the near future or in December construction must begin in six months. Another stipulation is that each housing unit must have an attached one car garage.
A Des Moines developer has proposed a housing development project involving 27-lots. The 27-rental properties will be in a rent-to-own program.
