(Anita) Just like several other projects this spring, the CAM multi-purpose building has been delayed.
Superintendent Steve Pelzer explains, "Unfortunately we've run into some trouble, as they were getting the ground work ready we found out the soil is saturated a great deal. They are having a hard time getting it dried out so there has been very little progress."
The School Board learned at their meeting last night that the project will now come at a higher cost than the estimated $615,000. The increase is due to the work that will need to be done to dry out the area. The good news is that there is no rush to get the building constructed.
"It's a multi-purpose area that we are going to use for recess, PE classes, so forth. We still have the existing area that we have been using so basically it's a case of when it's completed we start using it. There is not a lot of preparation as far as moving stuff in and things like that."
The 100X80 foot building had a target completion date of October 2nd, but the project, according to Mr. Pelzer, is already a month behind schedule.
In other school board news the district has decided to add High School Cross Country to their list of athletic offerings.
