Des Moines – According to the Iowa Workforce Development, the unemployment rate dropped for the third time since May when it was at a blasting 7.6 percent.
The current rate is now at 4.6 percent, coming down .1 percent since April and a whopping 3 percent since May.
Teresa Wahlert, Director of the Iowa Workforce Development states, “The Iowa job market picked up momentum in May, as businesses added more jobs than anticipated. Iowa’s non-farm jobs grew by 5,300 in May; the largest monthly total reported so far this year.” Total employment has also reached its highest level for the year to 1,576,800 and compared to last year, total non-farm employment has gone up 1.2 percent.
