(Atlantic) The feedlot Steak House and Lounge in Atlantic will have a new owner next month. Jacob Weitzel has purchased the feedlot from Bart Peppers. He plans to take ownership on July 15.
Weitzel says they will spend about two weeks renovating the restaurant before they reopen.
“We are going to keep some of Pepper’s more popular items and we are going to do some additions as well,” says Weitzel. “We are trying to go for a more All-American feel similar to an Applebee’s or Chili’s, so we are going to expand on the burger menus some and hopefully add in some thin crust pizza.”
Weitzel recently purchased the old Atlantic Hotel lot at 314 Walnut Street and planned on building a restaurant there along with a sports bar. He says those plans remain intact.
“That’s actually how the owner, Bart, found out that we were interested in a restaurant. He saw us in the newspaper and heard us on the radio twice about buying the lot. We are still going to purchase the lot and at this point, we are just going to purchase it, hold on to it for a couple of years, and then if everything goes as planned, in a few years we will start building down there and build office space and either apartments or condos as well.”
The Feedlot Steak House and Lounge will be renamed “Weitzel’s”.
