(AUDUBON) The Audubon School Board approved an increase in student fees at their meeting Monday night.
Superintendent Brett Gibbs said Driver’s Ed. is going up from $235 to $250, student activity tickets were raised from $20 to $25 and hot lunch and breakfast prices are going up about 10 to 15 cents per student.
The School Board also approved a four percent total package increase for employees not represented by a bargaining unit.
“That includes the increase in the IPERS which the state mandated, that also includes the increase in insurance costs and then of course an increase in salary as well,” said Gibbs.
And, Gibbs said they will soon be advertising some of their surplus property that will be available for the public to purchase. He said they have a lot of things in storage they want to get rid of.
“We have a lot of old student desks, old plastic chairs, we have book shelves, we even have some old equipment back from the days when we used to have a metal workshop and some equipment that we no longer use in our Ag and Industrial tech shop as well,” said Gibbs. “So, that will be coming out in the paper what exactly is going to be available for people to put in bids on and that process will all take place that first week in July; the 1st, 2nd and 3rd. People can certainly contact the school too; we’ll have a list of those items here at the school as well.”
The Audubon School Board will hold an end of the fiscal year meeting on Wednesday, June 26th at 7:30 a.m. Gibbs said it will be a quick meeting to pay some bills for this fiscal year and maybe finalize a hiring or two.
