(Anita) The condition of the 19-year-old Omaha woman critically injured in an accident north of Anita has been upgraded from critical to serious.
According to the Omaha World Herald, Rachel Johnson was air-lifted to Creighton University Hospital in Omaha in critical condition following the 4:00 a.m. accident on eastbound Interstate 80 near Anita.
Iowa State Patrol Trooper Kyle Mass told KSOM/KS95 news Thursday morning that Johnson was eastbound when she fell asleep at the wheel. Her car veered into the median and when she overcorrected it hit some tension cables and rolled ending up on its wheels in the ditch.
A semi driver spotted the wrecked car with Johnson still in it about two-and-a-half-hours later.
