NATIONAL AG DAY
(ATLANTIC) In the midst of National Ag Week, today is National Ag day; a time to celebrate the abundance provided by our nation’s farmers and ranchers.
Stacy Euken, who is on the Board of Directors for the Cass County Farm Bureau, says no matter whom you are, American agriculture touches your life every day.
“Iowa ranks first in the nation in corn and soybean production, we’re also number one in hog production and egg production, second in red meat production and ninth in wool production and it’s just kind of important to think about, whenever you’re preparing food, think about where your food comes from, it may be produced right here in Cass County, here in Iowa, or it may come from a farm elsewhere,” said Euken. “A lot of times we forget to put a face with the agricultural products, whether you’re sitting down to a glass of wine or maybe wearing your favorite t-shirt, those are all produced on farms.”
Euken encourages everyone to support local commodity groups. She said the Farm Bureau and Pork Producers are doing their membership drives this month and the Cass County Beef Producers and Corn and Soybean growers are always accepting new members as well.
