MASSENA CITY COUNCIL MEETS TONIGHT
(Massena) The city park hours in Massena could officially change if the city council approves the third and final reading of an ordinance tonight that closes the park from 11:00 p.m. to 5:00 a.m. Massena Mayor Mike Cormack says one reason for the change is to cut down on vandalism.
The council will also discuss the possibility of placing one camera in the city park, and two others on Main Street. The discussion started after an ATM machine was vandalized at the bank. Officials think that outside cameras will help monitor vehicle traffic outside the building at night.
In other activity; the council will set a date for a clean up day, and set public hearings for a Jake brake ordinance, and Holiday leave.
A compression release engine brake, frequently called a Jake brake or Jacobs brake, is an engine braking mechanism installed on some diesel engines. When activated, it opens exhaust valves in the cylinders, releasing the compressed air trapped in the cylinders, and slowing the vehicle. The activation is quite loud.
The meeting starts at 7:00 at the Massena City Hall.
