(ATLANTIC) The Cass County Board of Supervisors approved a three year employment contract with Cass County Engineer Charles Marker.
Marker asked the Board for a three percent raise, which was what the Supervisors authorized for other court house officials, and also asked for 25 vacation days instead of 20.
“To be quite honest with you, I haven’t asked for much at all,” said Marker. “I’ve put in 15 years of work with the County and I’d like to stay with the County. This is a separate contract from the employee handbook, you gave some people benefits last year, I guess I like to think I’m doing a good job and I’d like to be rewarded.”
The Supervisors approved the three percent raise, but denied the five additional vacation days because the employee handbook states that the maximum number of vacation days to be given is 20.
Marker’s salary starting July 1st, 2013 will now be $99,071.
In other activity, the Supervisors approved the appointment of Cathy Downey to the Veteran Affairs Commission for a three year term beginning July 1st.
