(Atlantic) A home west of Atlantic burned to the ground over night at 56575 Indian Creek Road.
Atlantic Fire Chief Mark Mcnees says Wayne Priester who was renting the home, didn’t return home last night and nobody saw anything, until this morning after the house was gone.
“We received a call at around 7:30 this morning from Dave Fruend who told fire fighters that his neighbor’s house was destroyed by a fire,” stated Mcnees. “So we investigated the scene this morning and there is absolutely nothing left.”
Mcnees says the cause the fire is going undetermined because there is not enough to go on right now and probably won’t be.
“There is a possibility it was lightening or he indicated just like a typical home he had three or four things plugged in and gas service to there, but it is a total guessing game right now,” said Mcnees. “We have to have something to go on and when it is all in the basement it is virtually impossible and we can’t get a dog in there because it is still smoldering. It is just going to be one of those unfortunate total losses that we are not going ton know why.”
Mcnees says it is a little rare that somebody didn’t notice something but it was in the middle of the night that happened in an area that is not highly traveled.
