(DALLAS CO.) Paddlers heading to the South Raccoon River in Dallas County will find the Pleasant Valley Access closed for the next two weeks while the parking area is renovated.
Officials expect the new parking area to be usable by the July 4th holiday weekend. Paddlers can look forward to a new parking area with 10 stalls including two ADA stalls. There will also be a loop and staging area for trailers. The old access road will become a wetland area with new plantings.
The new access and parking lot will be located at the end of Indian Trail, blocking off the old access road to help curb illegal dumping, target shooting and unauthorized motor vehicle use.
