(AUDUBON) The Audubon County Relay for Life will take place this Friday from 6 to 9 p.m. at the Audubon City Park.
Event Organizer Anna Elmquist said they will recognize survivors during a ceremony that starts at 6:15 p.m. Survivors are encouraged to show up a little early and get registered. Two Palms Grilling will be providing food from 4:30 to 9:00 p.m. There will be an auction, lots of entertainment and luminaries will light up the city park to honor the survivors and those who lost the battle. Luminaries are available the night of the event or by contacting Kelly Christiansen at the Audubon State Bank. Those attending the event are encouraged to bring a lawn chair.
Elmquist said all proceeds from the Audubon County Relay for Life go to the American Cancer Society.
“We raised approximately $28,000 last year and we would really like to bump it up to $32,000 this year if we could get that accomplished,” said Elmquist. “I know we’ve got some teams out there that have been doing some great events as the community is aware of because they have supported them very generously, so we’re anxious about that.”
Elmquist said they will also host a Traveling the Trail against Cancer Bike Run on June 22nd. It’s a park to park event that begins in Hamlin and ends in Brayton with a pancake breakfast. Registration will be in Hamlin from 6:30 to 7:15 a.m. The race starts at 7:30 a.m.
