PAGE COUNTY MAN DROWNS AT RAPP PARK
(SHENANDOAH) A Shenandoah man died after being pulled from the water at Rapp Park in Page County Friday afternoon.
The Page County Sheriff’s Office received a call at around 4:40 p.m. of a kayak floating upside down on the water at Rapp Park one half mile north of Shenandoah on Highway 48. Shortly after, another call came in reporting that the kayak and a paddle were now on shore, but the caller could see something floating in the water. When authorities arrived they could see an individual struggling to stay above water and then go under the water approximately 150 meters from the shore.
The dive team commenced a search and recovered 32-year-old Fon Takara Fominyen from the water. CPR was immediately started while the victim was being transported to shore. Fominyen was transported to the University of Nebraska Medical Center via helicopter where he was pronounced dead.
