(Jefferson) Activity is underway in that could bring a casino operation to Greene County in West Central Iowa. Jamie Buelt of Wild Rose Entertainment says the company was approached by county officials a few months ago.
"They told us about their interest in bringing a casino to Greene County specifically in Jefferson. We've been actively talking to them, we don't have a site, but we do know they are working towards having a referendum put on their ballot."
They are targeting early August as a date for a referendum in Greene County. Buelt says no land has been secured for the project. It would be similar in scope to the Wild Rose Casino in Emmetsburg. On Monday, the Greene County Board of Supervisors approved a resolution supporting the effort to get a casino near the Jefferson area.
