(Villisca) The Corning and Villisca School Boards will share a Superintendent when both institutions enter into a whole-grade sharing agreement this fall.
“It will not only save us money not having to hire for that position for each district, but it also brings in supplemental funding through the state’s five-year-program,” stated Willie Stone, who was named Superintendent of each District Monday evening. “When you whole-grade share each district maintains it’s own identity and because each has its own board in title I will be Superintendent of South West Valley Schools, but will be contracted between the Corning and Villisca School Districts.”
This fall the two schools will combine as the South West Valley Community School District. The high school students will be in Corning, Middle school in Villisca and each community will maintain their own elementary schools.
