(COUNCIL BLUFFS) A Council Bluffs man was arrested following a high speed chase through Pottawattamie County Saturday morning.
Pottawattamie County Sheriff Jeff Danker said a Deputy was eastbound on Highway 92 just outside of Council Bluffs shortly after midnight when he noticed a motorcycle come up behind him at a high rate of speed.
“The Deputy clocked the motorcycle in at about 78 mph and he slowed down and waited for the motorcycle to pass so he could turn on his lights and get him stopped,” explained Danker. “The motorcycle passed and as soon the Deputy turned his lights on he sped up and proceeded eastbound on Highway 92.”
Danker said the motorcycle would slow down periodically and act like it was going to turn and then it would speed up again.
“He was going in excess of 140 mph on Highway 92, he was running about 120 mph through Treynor and another Deputy in Carson clocked him at 135 mph going through Carson,” said Danker. “Cass County was notified of the pursuit. Deputies continued to follow the motorcycle at speeds greater than 130 mph on Highway 92 and they got to the County line and there were around three different Cass County Deputies there with their lights on. The motorcycle decided to make a turn onto Cherrywood Road and he got 150 yards or so on Cherrywood and he wrecked.”
The driver, 27 year old Richard Killough, was arrested for eluding and a number of other traffic citations. No injuries were reported throughout the incident.
