(Des Moines) The Governor signed the 2013 Education Reform Bill into law this morning.
Governor Terry Brandstad states, "This is a key turning point in Iowa history."
Governor Brandstad is calling on Iowans to continue to hold their electeed officials "Feet to the fire" on improving Iowa schools. The Governor says that starts with his office.
The education plan includes more basic school funding for the next two academic years, as well as more money for distircts that adopt a program to raise minimum teacher pay and offer leadership incentives. A task force will review teacher evaluations. Some restrictions on home-schooling will also be lifted.
