(Des Moines) One inch rains were common in Southwest Iowa overnight, but heavier amounts have occurred in northeast and eastern Iowa over the last several days.
“There have been reports of six to seven inch rainfalls in Marshall and Jasper Counties, and in the past 24-hours Zearing has received five inches of rain, stated Kotenberg, and the Marshalltown Water Plant has received around seven-and-a-half inches of rain the past two days.”
He says unfortunately the ground is saturated and the rivers are starting to fill up.
“We have had lots of reports of flooding across the state and there are many Highways and bridges that are shut down,” said Kotenberg. “It is a bad situation and it is not expected to get much better in the next couple of days.”
Areas just west of Cedar Falls have received 17.8 inches of rain sing April 8.
