LAWMAKER ASKS FOR TEACHERS UNION PRESIDENTS RESIGNATION
(Des Moines) The President of the Iowa Teacher’s Union is in Polk County Jail for three days for his second drunk-driving charge.
Iowa State Education Association President Chris Bern is serving his sentence for driving while intoxicated on December 17.
State Representative Tom Shaw says Bern should be forced to resign. “I think the membership should call for his resignation. He is in charge of an organization that teaches our children and I just think he sets a very bad example.”
Shaw was former Police Officer. He says Bern’s actions pose a threat to the very children his union tries to protect.
Bern has issued an apology saying he regrets his “careless actions” and will work to regain the trust of teachers’ Union Members.
