SCHOOL BUS DRIVER CHARGED FOR LEAVING THE SCENE OF AN ACCIDENT
(Odebolt) The Omaha World Herald says a northwest Iowa school bus driver faces charges for leaving the scene of a serious injury accident.
It happened Monday afternoon on the west edge Odebolt just 8-blocks from the grade school the girl attends. The 7-year-old girl who has not been identified, had just gotten off the bus, and was run over. According to a criminal complaint, the driver, 56-year-old Carolyn Mortensen, of Wall Lake, called 911 and radioed the school but she did not stop to help the child and continued with her route.
Mortensen is charged with leaving the scene of a serious injury accident, and failure to render aid.
School officials say the driver should have stayed with the child until help arrived.
