(Atlantic) It was round three of the “Cash Mob” in Atlantic this afternoon and the First Whitney Bank employees marched up one side of Main Street and down the other inviting businesses to join in and spend $20.00 cash at Cappel’s Ace Hardware in Atlantic.
Ted Robinson, of First Whitney Bank was leading the March.“The idea is to raise awareness on the Atlantic Chamber’s “Grow Five” campaign to spend money locally, and when you spend money locally it multiplies throughout the community,” stated Robinson.
This is how it works…Paul Gude, President of the First Whitney Bank gives every employee $20.00 cash to spend at a local business.
“Obviously they are probably going to spend more than that and we will get a tally at the end of the day and find out what kind of an impact we can have,” stated Gude. “This is all part of the plus five campaign that the chamber came up with two-or-three years ago and I think it was a success. A lot people realized that we can bring some shopping back here in Atlantic and keep those tax dollars here and everybody benefits.”
