(GRISWOLD) A benefit supper is planned for May 22nd to help out a fireman and his family who lost their home to a fire.
The Griswold and Elliott Fire Departments responded to the fire on May 2nd at 305 Fourth Street in Griswold.
“Severin and Laura Ritter, along with their twin 1 ½ year olds Gage and Emma, their house was completed gutted and partially destroyed in the fire,” explained Fireman Kent Gade. “They lost all of their personal property. It is still to be determined if the house is going to be totaled or not. And of course there is some insurance, but we all know that that never does cover all of the expenses of having to go through such a thing.”
Gade said the benefit supper will be held at the Griswold Community Center from 5:00 to 8:00 pm. The supper includes spaghetti, garlic bread, lettuce salad and a drink for a free will donation.
“Severin has been a member of the Griswold Fire Department for the past five years,” said Gade. “He’s an excellent fireman and we are trying to do as much as we can to relieve the burden of this tragedy on him.”
Donations can also be made at any Rolling Hills Bank under the Severin and Laura Ritter Family Fire Fund.
