ATLANTIC MAYOR WANTS COUNCILS INPUT ON COUNCIL COMMITTEES
(Atlantic) Atlantic Mayor Dave Jones wants to discuss his establishment of Council Committees at Wednesday night’s City Council meeting. While the Mayor believes that there is some precedence for him to establish committees, he has asked that this item be placed on the agenda to determine if the Council wants to keep the present committee structure.
Councilman Kern Miller has expressed his dislike for the committees saying all council members should have their input during the discussion.
Mayor Jones feels at times it is useful to hold work sessions but he believes that Council Committees are generally more efficient and effective. The Mayor is recommending the present committee system be maintained and continue to hold work sessions as needed. Nevertheless, the mayor would like the Council to express their opinions.
The meeting starts at 5:30 p.m. Wednesday evening.
