(Johnston) Johnston Police are filing charges in the case of an 8-year-old boy who brought a semi-automatic handgun to Lawson Elementary school yesterday.
“There are going to be charges filed against the father,” stated Johnston Police Chief Bill Vaughn. “It was the fathers’ handgun that was brought to school.”
Thirty-one-year-old Louis Friestad, of Johnston will be charged today with a child endangerment type charge, and a gun law violation for improper storage.
Officers also took a rifle and a few other handguns out of the Johnston home. The case is being referred to D-H-S for further investigation.
