SHELBY COUNTY MAN SENTENCED FOR LASCIVIOUS ACTS
(Harlan) A Shelby County man has pleaded guilty to two counts of lascivious acts with a child.
The Harlan Tribune says 35-year-old Jesse Ural Smith, of Defiance has been sentenced in Shelby County District Court to a term not to exceed 10-years in jail. The prison terms will run concurrent and he was given credit for time served. In addition, Smith was fined $1,000 on each charge, and must pay all court costs, attorney fees and sheriff fees.
Smith was originally charged with five counts of sexual abuse and three charges of lascivious acts with a child.
Smith has been reprimanded to the Iowa Medical and Classification Center at Oakdale, and must submit to DNA sampling.
Smith was initially charged in December 2009 with sexually abusing a minor child under the age of 12-years-old. The five second-degree sexual abuse charges were Class B felonies, while the three lascivious act charges were Class C felonies.
