(OAKLAND) Two people were arrested following a shooting incident east of Carson Monday night.
Pottawattamie County Sheriff Jeff Danker said they received a call of somebody shooting in the area of 460th and Chestnut near a small lake at around 9:00 p.m.
“From what we found out is that there were two individuals on one side of the lake that were fishing and there were three individuals on the other side of the lake that had a boat, I believe they were not in the boat at that time, but they were shooting a firearm,” said Danker. “The two individuals that were fishing hollered at them and told them to quit shooting because they were scaring the fish. A verbal altercation ensued across the lake from each other and then the two guys that were fishing said that they had called law enforcement and they were on their way.”
Danker said the individuals got in their pickup and as they were leaving they fired a couple of rounds in the general area of the other fishermen.
A Deputy was in the area and was able to stop the pickup. The driver, Newberry Wright of Oakland, was arrested for OWI 2nd Offense, Driving While Revoked and a Firearms charge. Alex Kinser of Oakland was also arrested on firearms charges. Both were transported to the Pottawattamie County Jail.
