(RED OAK) A Red Oak woman may face charges following a stabbing early Tuesday morning.
The Red Oak Police Department was called to the intersection of North Broadway and West Oak Streets at around 4:30 a.m. Tuesday. When they arrived they found 19 year old Katty Perez lying in the intersection with a stab wound to the right side of her head. Perez was transported to the Montgomery County Memorial Hospital by Red Oak Rescue and then transferred to Creighton University Medical Center in Omaha by air ambulance.
Evidence developed in the investigation lent to the possibility that the injuries sustained by Perez may have been self inflicted. During an investigative interview conducted by the Iowa Division of Criminal Investigation, Perez admitted that she had inflicted the injuries upon herself.
A charge of making false reports to law enforcement may be filed at a later date.
