(State) We know the month of May is starting off well below the average high temperatures, but what about the way April ended up?
Those who put their jackets away at the end of March don’t have to be reminded that the April weather brought much cooler conditions than can typically be expected.
State climatologist Harry Hillaker says Iowan's went through the coolest since April since 1997,
"The tail end of the month has finally been much warmer but the month as a whole will end up being about five degrees cooler than a typical April. This was following a very cool March as well. That March-April combination is our coolest all the way back to 1975."
What a difference a year makes. Last year’s March was the warmest ever on record while April was also well above average in 2012.
