(Audubon) One of the top 20 Critical Access Hospitals in the nation is located right here in southwest Iowa.
The Audubon County Memorial Hospital was named among the top 20 in the country when it comes to critical access. CEO Tom Smith says,
“It means a great deal, it just kind of validates all of the hardwork that our employees and physicians put in and providing them with good personalized health care."
The ranking is based on a National Rural Health Association hospital consumer assessment of healthcare providers and systems survey which is given to all patients.
“They take those surveys and tabulate them and we scored in the top 20 in the nation under the patient perspective index which is the patients perception of our overall rating and whether or not they would highly recommend us in the future."
Smith says it’s a personal connection to the patients that sets Audubon County Memorial Hospital apart from the rest
The hospital was notified of the award in late March and there will be a special ceremony this fall in Texas to honor the top 20 Critical Access Hospitals.
