(CAM) CAM Middle School students and staff honored the victims and survivors of the Boston Marathon bombings with a walk Wednesday afternoon.
Middle School Social Studies Teacher Jay Sikkink said when they discussed the Boston bombings as part of their current events the students had outpouring support and compassion and felt like they needed to do something that focused on the positive.
“We thought that a walk to commemorate the victims and the victims’ families as well as the people that didn’t finish the race would be appropriate,” said Sikkink.
About 80 middle school students and around 10 faculty members walked for 30 minutes Wednesday afternoon totaling 127.5 miles.
“I’m really proud of these guys for what they did. It’s great that they show an interest in what’s going on throughout the world and that they show compassion for others, even outside of their community,” said Sikkink. “They represented their community pretty well.”
