ATLANTIC CITY COUNCIL HOLDS SPECIAL BUDGET MEETING TONIGHT
(Atlantic) The Atlantic City Council will hold a special meeting at 7:00 p.m. this evening to adopt the proposed fiscal year 2012 budget. Iowa code requires that municipal budgets be filed with the state and county auditor’s office by March 15 of each year.
Atlantic City Administrator Doug Harris says the council can reduce the budget prior to or following the public hearing on March 9, but it cannot be increased.
In other activity tonight, the city council will act on a resolution to authorize financial assistance to Iowa Western Community College for a technology design program. Under the proposed resolution, the city would make an annual contribution of up to $25,000 to Iowa Western Community College for four years beginning in fiscal year 2012.
The funding would help off set the projected funding shortfalls related to the necessary operating and capital expenses associated with the implementation of a new Technology Design Program.
The council will review the budget during a work session at 5:30 this evening. The special meeting starts at 7:00 p.m.
