(EXIRA EHK) Exira-EHK is hosting the Rolling Hills Art Conference April 22nd and 23rd.
Exira-EHK Art Instructor Amelia Teegerstrom said there are seven High School’s in the district that are participating in the two-day event.
“On the first day, April 22nd, we have a few students and their teachers come, they set up all of their art in the categories; we have 27 categories, and then after that the judges judge all of the art,” said Teegerstrom. “They can get placed 1st through 5th and whatever honorable mentions the judges feel are deserved.”
Teegerstrom said there will be an open art show from 6 to 8 pm on April 22nd in the Elk Horn High School gym. She encourages everyone to stop by and check out the art. There is no cost to attend.
On April 23rd the students will get to choose two competitions and two demonstrations. Teegerstrom said there will be four different 40-minute demonstrations to choose from.
“The demonstrating artists are Troy Muller for sculpture; he is a painter and sculptor from Omaha. We have Natalie Groves from Brayton demonstrating illustration and advertising. Norval Nissen from Carroll will be demonstrating pottery. And, Jordan Hansen from Elk Horn will be showing the kids some graphic design and some of his skills,” explained Teegerstrom.
She said there are also four different competitions for the kids to choose from, including; paper sculpture, pencil shadings, logo design and oil pastels of a landscape.
An award ceremony will take place at 1:30 pm on April 23rd.
