TEEN KILLED IN WOODBURY COUNTY ACCIDENT
(SIOUX CITY) A Salix teen was killed and one other person was injured in a two vehicle accident in Woodbury County Monday night.
The Iowa State Patrol says 17-year-old Mary Katherine Hughes was killed in the accident that occurred at around 10:30 p.m. The report says Hughes was driving a 2003 Oldsmobile Alero in the wrong direction on I-29 southbound in the northbound lane of traffic. The Alero collided head-on with a 2001 Chevy Silverado driven by 23-year-old Ryan Marx of Sioux City near the 131 mile marker.
Marx was transported to Mercy Hospital with injuries.
The Iowa State Patrol was assisted by the Woodbury County Sheriff’s Office, Iowa DOT MVE, Mercy Air Care, Sloan Fire EMS, Sioux Land Paramedics and Salix Fire EMS.
