(Audubon) The Audubon School Board approved their fiscal year 2014 budget on Wednesday night. Following the public hearing the board approved a total tax levy for fiscal year 2014 at $12.98 per $1,000 of valuation. That is a decrease of $1.06 per $1,000 from the current school year.
In other activity, the Audubon Education Association made their opening presentation to the board concerning bargaining...they're initial offer was for a 6% total package increase in salary and benefits...
The School board also accepted the low bid from Carroll Glass to replace the elementary windows this summer....three bids were received on the project with Carroll Glass having the lowest at $131,742...this work will start as soon as school out in May.
The school board also approved one new teaching contract and accepted one letter of retirement and one coaching resignation:
Erin Westering will be the new Spanish teacher at Audubon starting next year; a position that opened up due to a retirement...Erin is a Simpson College graduate and is originally from Atlantic.
Gail Richardson submitted her letter of retirement as Family and Consumer Science teacher after serving the last four years in Audubon and Gary Keller offered his letter of resignation as boy's golf coach, a position he has held since retiring as the school vocal music director a few years ago.
