(ATLANTIC) Atlantic Glass Company owners Kerry Keegan and Jericho Schmidt received a Business Incentive Grant payment from Chamber Board member and Meredith Communications Vice President and General Manager Bill Saluk.
Atlantic Chamber Director Megan Roberts said the City of Atlantic Community Promotion Commission awards the grant to new businesses to assist with increased marketing efforts.
“In a start-up business, money is typically fairly tight within the first year and so as long as a business is 90-days old or less they can apply for the Business Incentive Grant,” explained Roberts. “It goes through an application process where a Chamber committee reviews them and scores them and if they receive a score above, I believe a 75 percent, it goes to the Community Promotion Commission which is a form of the local option sales tax that goes into the City fund and that Commission then approves whether or not the business will get the funds.”
Roberts said since this is a matching grant, the business has to spend an equal amount of funds. Atlantic Glass Company received a $1,000 grant, which totals $2,000 in advertising.
