(Logan) Citing “trying times” the Mayor of Logan told the city council Monday that he is resigning effective May 15. The advanced warning is to allow sufficient time for a special election.
According to the Omaha World Herald, Mayor Randy Fetter says the decision was a “tough one” but recent times have been pretty trying.”
The issues at hand include: Councilman Mike Foutch’s vetoing a resolution in March that would have paid a recently hired clerk $17.00 and hour. Foutch, Mayor Pro Tem has been filling in during Fetter’s recent absence from council meetings. Last July, the council fired City Clerk Angela Winther and City Attorney Joe Lauterbach.
Since the firings of Winther and Lauterbach, the council has been divided over what to do about cleanup of Logan’s Milliman Park, which is located next to City Councilman Skip Johnson’s property.
